The Clay Family

Standard

Just in case you’re wondering, I think sisters are the best. Especially cute little blonde ones! The Clay family were so much fun to capture, especially the girls. They’d turn on the model faces and charm and off I’d go…they made it too easy, really!

Thanks Clay family!

A Reunion

Standard

One of my very dear friends, Jeannie, has parents who live in Alaska. Lots of their grandchildren live here in the sunny desert, so when they came out for Thanksgiving, they wanted to make sure they got pictures with all of these sunny little blossoms.
Lucky enough for me, they let me take their pictures!

Getting six children to look at me is practically impossible, but I think all of their personalities come alive in the imperfections of the moment.

Thanks for letting me be a part of your Thanksgiving weekend!

The O. Family

Standard

Gorgeous family, right? Pictures barely do them justice. It was so much fun to work with them; beautiful people with awesome personalities are really easy to photograph!
Niki and I have known each other for a long time (I think 3 years? Maybe? No, longer than that) but actually never had met each other until this shoot. Confused? It’s a story too long to share, but I’m so glad that we were finally able to connect.
Niki, thanks for sharing your family with me!  You guys are just precious!

Thanks, again! It was really fun!

Hitomi’s Session

Standard

Hitomi is a very dear friend of mine. You know how you meet people and just have an instant connection? That is how my friendship with Hitomi developed. She is one of the most gracious, beautiful people I know, and it was a true honor to photograph this special time of her life. Hitomi is currently nurturing her third little munchkin in the womb, and I can’t wait to meet the fabulous little Lily!

Thank you, Hitomi, for letting me be a part of this special time for you! I’m anxiously waiting for Lily’s grand entrance!

Bloom Photography

Standard

My name is Becki, and welcome to my online portfolio! Bloom Photography exists to capture your memories as they happen. I specialize in family, children, newborn, and maternity photography in the East Valley area of Phoenix, AZ.

My business started quite simply: I had children. Pre-munchkin, I didn’t even own a camera. Kodak disposables all the way (oh! the shame!)! Then the first munchkin arrived, and I had the uncontrollable urge to capture every single waking moment of his life. I knew that my sleep-deprived brain couldn’t possibly keep those memories fresh forever, so film would have to do it.

I did what every parent does, especially with  first children: you march them down to your local, run-of-the-mill portrait studio when your Kodak won’t cut it. The next thing you know, you’ve shelled out $100 for 3 8×10’s and a set of wallets that picture your child being forced to stand next to a big number 1.

Then, I had munchkin #2. And #3. Now, that $100 starts to really rack up, because I had 3 kids I now had to preserve in time. At that point, photography for me became an investment. I would much rather take personal photos of my kids that capture who they really are  instead of forking over hundreds of dollars for pictures that I didn’t have the rights to, couldn’t save, and couldn’t develop on my own.

What happened next…well, I fell in love with photography. It has become a hobby that I love spending time both doing and learning about. The name Bloom was chosen because capturing these special moments in time remind me of the blooms of flowers; they last for such a short period, so capture them while they last.

This blog exists to showcase my work for my clients to look at and share, and to keep a record of all those fabulous moments that are now preserved forever.
